Jamaica recognises a Youth as a young person with an age range from 15 to 29 years old. This group comprises approximately 28% of the country’s population. As signaled by the
National Youth Policy, the relative size of the youth population and the role of youth in the
development of the society and economy, call for greater focus to be placed on investing
in youth development to ensure the continued sustainability and prosperity of the society.
To further facilitate the advancement of youths and youth programmes and services, the
Youth and Adolescents Policy Division (YAPD) of the Ministry of Education and Youth
(MOEY) is currently leading the development of an electronic database system that will
create an online inventory system of programmes/services provided by youth
organisations. The Youth Programmatic Inventory seeks to electronically document and
provide a platform for increased coordination of youth programmes/services to youths
across Jamaica
